Helping to support Wooler Arts

Supporting Wooler Arts Making a donation Running a voluntary arts organisation is financially very challenging. Currently we receive no public funding, but have to rely on trusts, small grant applications, individual donations and box office income. Being a Registered Charity brings benefits such as Gift Aid, but it is the generosity of individuals that has been so helpful over the past five years, particularly with regard to the Summer Concerts, our most expensive activity. As we look to the future, we hope that support will be forthcoming in a number of different ways. If you would like to make an individual donation, you can do this by cheque made payable to Wooler Arts and sent to Wooler Arts PO Box 134 Wooler Northumberland NE66 9ES If you prefer to pay by bank transfer , please email us at info@woolerarts.org.uk and we will send you our bank details. Please make it clear which of the following you would like to support: Wooler Arts Summer Concerts Concerts and Recitals Glendale Community Ceilidh Band Poetry Café Visual Arts - Open Exhibition Highlights Thank you very much for considering to support us - it is very much appreciated.

A thrilling concert by two outstanding jazz musicians

The duo setting can be like a breath of fresh air, particularly for musicians who normally deal with the complexity and intricacy of much larger ventures. Saxophonist Emma Rawicz, whose star has been rising all over Europe, runs and directs her own big band. Pianist Gwilym Simcock, whose album “Good Days At Schloss Elmau” was nominated for the Mercury Prize, and has toured the world with Pat Metheny, will at any one time be working on a whole array of orchestral composition commissions.

Emma Rawicz: “…..we have some very similar reference points in our musical make up,…. Keith Jarrett, Jan Garbarek, Ralph Towner, as well as the whole folk-inflected lineage of British jazz through John Taylor, Kenny Wheeler and Norma Winstone. All of that had a big impact.”
